You can find cosmetic products that are labeled as organic or natural also everywhere. Just some of those products are mascaras and moisturizers. But, there are no regulations, these products must meet, so they may be harmful for you. In fact, many of them are dangerous for your skin and your health. Because of this, you must understand what organic and natural really means. Natural means that all ingredients come from natural sources. This also means that they cannot contain synthetic compounds. Organic goes one step further. It means that all ingredients come from plants that are cultivated organically. But, because there are no regulations, this may not be the case with a product you just bought.
Many people believe that organic and natural cosmetic products are much better than conventional ones. However, there are no studies nor research that can prove this. You must know that all cosmetic products contain some bad ingredients. Also, many of organic and natural cosmetic products contain synthetic compounds, despite them claiming that they do not contain them.
There are no regulations that control organic cosmetic products. But, there are some minor standards of the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) and ECOCERT that organic and natural products must satisfy. But, because there are many companies that create their own regulations, these standards are almost irrelevant. In essence, you can mark any product with an organic label without consequences.
In order to fully understand what the organic label mean, you must know that there are two types of them. 100% organic means that the product contains only organic ingredients. Organic product may contain 95% of the organic ingredients.
